Settings¶
Esc, or the settings button in the top bar (on a phone, Controls and settings in the three-dot menu), opens the settings. The cart is parked while they are open. Every setting is saved in this browser and shared by every family. Back to the orchard closes them.
Driving, view and sound¶
| Setting | What it does |

| Driving pace | Gentle exploration or Brisk driving: how fast the cart goes. Gentle by default. |
| Steering response | How fast the cart turns, from 0.5 to 1.5 times the normal rate. 1.0 by default. |
| Camera | Behind the cart, high view, in the cart, or god's eye. C steps through them. High view by default. |
| Wind and gentle cart motion | The leaves move in the wind and the cart sways. Off by default when your system asks for reduced motion. |
| Read each grove aloud on the ring | On the guided tour, the grove cards are read in the system voice. Off by default. |
| Silent mode | No cards, captions or tour cards appear on their own. E and clicking a tree still work. The bell button in the top bar flips it too. |
| Show geometry and frame rate | A readout of triangles, draw calls, leaves and frames per second under the family's name. |
| Shadows and forest floor detail | Shadows, and the undergrowth along the roads. Turn off for a faster frame rate. |
Environment¶
| Setting | What it does |

| Season | Spring, summer, autumn or winter. Each visit starts in the season of the date; a choice here lasts until you reload. |
| Fog | Clear, light, normal or heavy standing haze. Normal by default. |
| Schematic trees | Each person a bead colored by generation, with straight limbs and brass marriage bars; living people are gray and unnamed. V flips it. Off by default. See The orchard. |
| Name plates | Names over the people of the tree nearest the cart. N flips it. On by default. |
| Random weather | Morning fog that burns off, and cloud. Off by default. See Sky, seasons and weather. |
Under the settings, a short card lists the keyboard, touch and gamepad controls. Getting started has the full list.
Reset all settings¶
Reset all settings, near the bottom, asks first, then:
- Puts every setting above back to its default.
- Sets the season to the date's and the clock to Live.
- Forgets the tour's welcome, so the next tour gives it in full again.
Your album, the groves you have visited and the home person you chose are kept. To empty the album, use Empty the album in the Album tab; see Reading the records.
