Browse and read the books

Browse is the library itself, for reading. It does not use a language model or send anything anywhere.

Open it from the Browse tab on iPhone, or Browse the corpus in the sidebar on iPad and Mac.

Find a book

  1. Corpus lists the genres, each with its number of books. Tap one to see its books, with their authors.
  2. Tap a book to see its chapters.
  3. Tap a chapter to read it.

To find an author, type in Search authors at the top of the Corpus list. Results are grouped by author, with each of their books below. Searching by title is not available yet.

Read a chapter

The chapter appears as text you can select and copy. The title and the position (for example 3 / 24) are shown, with Previous and Next buttons at the bottom. A very long chapter is split into parts, labelled "Part 1 of 4" and so on.

Diaries

The diaries open by date. A diary's chapters are grouped by year, and each chapter is one dated entry. That includes Samuel Pepys's diary, John Evelyn's two volumes, and Boswell's journal of his tour of the Hebrides.

From an answer to the book

Under an answer, Source passages shows the passage that was found. To read the whole book around it, find the book in Browse by its author.
