Your chats

Each conversation is saved on the device when you ask your first question in it. Nothing is sent to us.

Find a past chat

Tap Chats, the sidebar button at the top left of the Chat screen. The list opens as a sheet. Tap a chat to open it. New chat is at the top.

Past chats are in the sidebar, under the engine and scope controls. Use New chat at the top of the sidebar to start another.

Chats are grouped by when you last used them: Today, Yesterday, Previous 7 days, and Older. Type in Search chats to filter by title.

Name, rename and delete

A new chat is titled from your first question. To change the title, touch and hold a chat (right-click on a Mac), then choose Rename.

To delete a chat, swipe it to the left, or touch and hold and choose Delete. Delete in the toolbar deletes the chat you have open and asks first. Deleting removes its questions, answers and illustrations, and it cannot be undone.

Settings, then Delete all conversations, removes every chat.

Export a chat

Export as Markdown in the toolbar shares the chat you have open as a Markdown file. Each question is a heading, with the scope, the engine and the model that answered it, then the answer, then a Sources list of the five best passages with their authors and scores. Send it to Notes, Files, Mail, or anywhere else the share sheet reaches.

Old chats stay as they were

A saved chat keeps each answer exactly as it was written. Changing the engine or a setting does not rewrite old answers; use Ask again to see what the new settings give.
